About EpiLife

EpiLife is Gothenburg’s center for epidemiologic studies on mental health and physical health interacting over the life course. It was founded in 2007 as one of ten FORTE-centers in Sweden. The research is based on the population studies that have been conducted in Gothenburg since the 1960s.

The purpose of EpiLife is to support ongoing and future research and to create better research environments for graduate students and junior researchers. The activities are organized in four work areas and four core areas:

Work area 1: Psychosocial factors and susceptibility to cardiovascular disease
Work area 2: Mental disorders over the life course
Work area 3: Overweight and obesity over the life course
Work area 4: Cognitive functioning – from normal to dementia

Core area 1: Biomarkers and genetics
Core area 2: Data management and statistics
Core area 3: Transfer and communication
Core area 4: Administration
